Neptune Plaza

Our newest vision for the city of Alameda in collaboration with architect Daniel Hoy, the proposal for Neptune Plaza re-imagines the existing shopping center to reflect the history of Neptune Beach, once known as “Coney Island of the West.” Together with the proposed Foster’s building (see our December 1 entry), the two projects would span the south side of the block from McKay Avenue to Webster Street. The Webster Street intersection holds historic significance as the original gateway to Neptune Beach. The new design concept includes a street terminus element reminiscent of the marker that used to greet visitors.

A key element of the shopping center’s renovation, the street-facing storefronts reinforce a pedestrian-friendly environment in the Webster Street Business District and encourage people to browse and shop on foot.
