Escaping Odile
In September 2014, what began as an idyllic beach vacation ended with our family narrowly missing the most powerful hurricane that ever struck the Baja Peninsula. Just 6 hours before Hurricane Odile made landfall in Cabo San Lucas, my family and I caught the last plane to depart the airport before it was shuttered. Other tourists had to be evacuated by military transport.
I took photos of the impressive architectural details of the Sanzpont Arquitectura-designed upper concourse. The airport sustained extensive damage, but I can’t find any photos of the upper levels to compare to the photos I took there.
